業分別中有三:初標二二種、次別顯二二種差別、後結成三業。初二中,補特伽羅,即具業者;復法差別,即彼業相。廣釋二中:初補特伽羅、後法。初中復二:初不善業道十補特伽羅、後善業道。殺生有三:一、總指經;二、別牒釋;後、結略義。別牒釋經九句,除總句故。殺生成業道究竟者,所殺者命斷已方成,非正死有,俱死、前死及自殺非業道故。不爾,便應皆成業道。
In the analysis of karma there are three parts: first stating the two pairs, next showing separately the distinctions between the two pairs, and finally concluding with the three karmas. In the first pair, the person (pudgala) is the one possessing karma; the further distinction of phenomena refers to the characteristics of that karma. In the extensive explanation of the two: first the person, and later phenomena. In the first there are again two parts: first the ten persons of the unwholesome paths of karma, and later the wholesome paths of karma. In killing living beings there are three parts: first, a general reference to the sūtra; second, distinct citations and explanations; and finally, a conclusion of the summarized meaning. The distinct citations and explanations explain nine phrases of the sūtra, excluding the general phrase. The culmination of the path of karma of killing living beings is accomplished only after the life of the one being killed is severed; it is not achieved at the very moment of death-existence, since dying simultaneously, dying beforehand, and killing oneself are not paths of karma. Otherwise, they would all constitute paths of karma.
