"By the power of this, the mind jointly realizes and converges": by the power of aspiring to the emptiness that is its fruit, and by the power of observing emptiness, one can jointly realize and converge upon both internal and external emptiness. Having been able to realize and converge, the two kinds—the emptiness that is its fruit and the emptiness of observation—are perfected. Now this reveals that the practice of emptiness and non-self is called the practice of emptiness, because it is empty of a self of sentient beings and a self of phenomena. Because the nature of self and the function of self, the substance of self and the meaning of self, are both empty, they are called emptiness and non-self according to what is appropriate.
