Next, to clarify the "Chapter on Power": Previously, the real was clarified as the object realized by wisdom; having attained what is realized, it cannot be in vain, which means ripening sentient beings and displaying great spiritual transformations to give rise to faith and cause them to attain the noble fruits. For bodhisattvas, benefiting oneself and benefiting others, displaying great spiritual penetrations, cultivating proper practice, and seeking the fruit to be realized in the future; and for the Munis, realizing their own Buddha activities, giving rise to great compassion, rescuing sentient beings, and manifesting this power—therefore it is called the "Chapter on Power." Hence it is clarified after the "Chapter on the Real Meaning." Master Yuan also says: Why is it clarified next? Because relying on the real meaning, wonderful function is autonomous; therefore it is clarified next. Among the five chapters and seven phenomena, the first three are already completed, and next the fourth is distinguished; hence it is called the "Chapter on Power." The Bodhisattvabhūmi-sūtra merely calls it the "Chapter on Powers."
