18. "The preceding six, along with craving, grasping, and existence, belong to the causal division," and so forth: because of feeling being the fruit, when it arouses the afflictions that moisten rebirth to serve as the cause, it is said to arise from contact; since the two boundaries are distinct, it is uniquely designated 'mixed'. Furthermore, functioning as fruit belongs to the forthcoming rebirth, and functioning as cause belongs to seeds; since the two boundaries are distinct, being born from another and giving birth to another are different. The rest are not like this; all are purely cause or fruit, distinguishing cause and fruit based on the root and the branch.
