Regarding the treatise: "At that time, towards the object of cognition, one operates with decisive resolve as if presently experiencing it. Although that object of cognition is not united with present experience," and so forth: the meaning here is to clarify the homogeneous image (*sabhāga-pratibimba*). The object of cognition in samādhi is similar to being presently experienced; in reality, in samādhi one has not yet directly experienced the former real object, nor is an object resembling the external object manifested in samādhi; yet because of the decisive resolve experiencing it as resembling the external real object, it is called the homogeneous image of the object of cognition.
