尊者阿難聞佛所說，即從坐起，偏袒右肩，右膝著地，合掌向佛，叉手長跪，而白佛言：「世尊！彌勒成佛所說戒法，乃以慈心制不食肉，為犯重禁，甚奇甚特！」

The Venerable Ānanda, hearing what the Buddha said, immediately rose from his seat, bared his right shoulder, placed his right knee on the ground, joined his palms toward the Buddha, crossed his hands, knelt upright, and said to the Buddha: "World-Honoured One! The precept rules spoken by Maitreya upon attaining Buddhahood actually establish the prohibition against eating meat through the mind of loving-kindness, making it a violation of a grave prohibition—how truly rare and extraordinary!"
