The Commentary states: 'All such aspects' restates the previous meaning of the various aspects of self and phenomena. The next two lines are an objection, meaning that heterodox teachers, the two vehicles, and worldly people, hearing it said that the nature and characteristics of self and phenomena are non-existent, make this objection: If the nature and characteristics of that self and phenomena are non-existent, on what are the conventional aspects of self and phenomena—whether imagined or dependent—established as these two kinds of self and phenomena? Because outside of that consciousness, those two real [entities] are non-existent, on what are the two conventional [entities] on internal consciousness established? For only by depending on what is real can a convention be spoken of.
