述曰：此謂數論、勝論等計，即是僧佉、吠世史迦義，如下廣敘。我有三義：一者常。我體常住，無初後故。從過去來、未來不斷，現在相續；二、周遍。五趣之中，體周遍故，趣趣有身，非定恒居一趣中故；三、量同虛空，遍十方故。

The Commentary states: This refers to the assertions of the Sāṃkhya, Vaiśeṣika, and others, that is, the doctrines of Sāṃkhya and Vaiśeṣika, as will be recounted in detail below. The self has three characteristics: first, permanence: the substance of the self is permanently abiding, because it is without beginning or end; it comes from the past, does not cease in the future, and is continuous in the present; second, all-pervading: because its substance is all-pervading throughout the five destinies, having a body in every destiny, and not being fixedly and constantly resident in a single destiny; third, its measure is equal to empty space, because it pervades the ten directions.
