如《俱舍論》二十九卷敘難「依」義。今解:「依」者依止,蘊上施設,不即、離故。恐繁不述。量云:汝所執我,應非實我;因云:許依蘊立,非即、離蘊故;如瓶、盆等。此中法言應非實我,簡別真如。真如依蘊,亦不即離,然非實我,故無不定。因中言「許」,無隨一過;宗等次第,准義釋文。彼計瓶等,依於四塵蘊等而立,然與四塵不即不離,故以為喻。
As Fascicle 29 of the Abhidharmakośa-śāstra sets forth objections to the meaning of 'relying'. Now it is explained: 'Relying' means depending on, being designated upon the aggregates, because it is neither identical nor separate. For fear of verbosity, it is not expounded in detail. The formal inference is: The self that you hold should not be a real self; reason: because it is admitted to be established based on the aggregates, yet is neither identical with nor separate from the aggregates; like a jar, a basin, and so on. In this, the predicate (sādhya-dharma) 'should not be a real self' excludes tathatā. Tathatā relies on the aggregates and is also neither identical nor separate, yet it is not a real self, so there is no fallacy of inconclusiveness (anaikāntika). In the reason, stating 'admitted' avoids the fallacy of unestablished for either party (anyatarāsiddha); the order of the thesis and so on should be interpreted according to the meaning. They posit that jars and the like are established based on the four particles (paramāṇu), aggregates, and so forth, yet are neither identical with nor separate from the four particles, hence they are taken as the example.
