Language
Classical Chinese

1.304

The Commentary states: The various teachers posit agency and experiencership differently. Speaking of activity (kāritra), both agency and experiencership are posited as existent and having efficacy. The formal inference is: The self should be impermanent; because it has activity; like hands, feet, and so on. If addressed to the Sāṃkhyas, transformation is like hands, etc.; if addressed to the Vaiśeṣikas and others, disintegration is like feet, etc. Although the phrasing is combined, the meaning and intention differ. Empty space and tathatā lack activity, so there is no fallacy of inconclusiveness.
