Within this there are two parts: first, a separate explanation of the two grasps; second, from 'All such grasps of a self that have been spoken of' below, a general explanation of the two grasps. In the first part there are three divisions: first, indicating the grasps and stating their number; second, listing the names of the grasps; third, separately explaining them. This is the first division: generally stating that there are two kinds. The various analytical headings here are as explained in the separate chapter: namely, delusion regarding the truths being general or particular; presence or absence across the various consciousnesses; the stages of suppression and abandonment; inclusion within the nine grades; suppression versus non-suppression of the two grasps—of persons and phenomena; coarseness and subtlety of the stages of abandonment; the intellectually constructed and the innate twenty views [of the person], etc. Each of these distinctions should be understood as presented below. Although a single sentient being does not simultaneously have the twenty views, etc., when speaking in terms of the dharmadhātu they can indeed be present. The term 'grasp of a self' (ātmagrāha) shows that it is not only view, but that minds and mental factors are all called 'grasps.'
