述曰：顯執所在，間斷麁猛，故有此執。餘識淺細及相續故，不能橫計起邪分別。邪分別者，必有間斷及麁猛故。以第八識淺而不間；五，間而又淺；七，二俱無；故唯在六。

The Commentary states: This shows where the grasp resides. Being intermittent, coarse, and violent, this grasp therefore exists [here]. Because the other consciousnesses are shallow and subtle or continuous, they cannot falsely impute and give rise to erroneous discrimination. Erroneous discrimination necessarily possesses intermittence as well as coarseness and violence. Because the eighth consciousness is shallow and not intermittent; the five [sensory consciousnesses] are intermittent yet also shallow; and the seventh lacks both; it is therefore only in the sixth.
