述曰：由第八識與一切法更互為緣，宿熏習力，有憶識等事，故無失也。更互為因等，能所攝藏也。義顯前作已熏種本識中，後從本識生諸識等，起憶念等。下廣當辨。

The Commentary states: Due to the eighth consciousness and all dharmas mutually acting as conditions, through the power of past perfuming, there are matters such as memory and recognition, and therefore there is no error. Mutually acting as causes and so forth is active and passive storing. The meaning shows that what was previously performed has perfumed seeds into the fundamental consciousness, and later, from the fundamental consciousness, the various consciousnesses and so forth arise, giving rise to recollection and memory. This will be broadly distinguished below.
