述曰：此違自宗，體即相故，以體與相同、異。量云：汝本三事，體應無別；說體與相無差別故；如所成相。或相應三別；與體無別故；如三本體。以許相一，而事有三，故違自宗。自宗三體即是相故，不應三、一，由違自宗，故為一難。

The Commentary states: This contradicts their own school, since essence is identical to characteristic, questioning the identity and difference between essence and characteristic. The syllogism is: Your original three entities' essence should have no distinction; because you state that essence and characteristic have no distinction; like the established characteristic. Alternatively, the characteristics should be distinct as three; because of having no distinction from the essence; like the three original essences. Because they accept that the characteristic is one while the entities are three, it contradicts their own school. Since in their own school the three essences are identical to the characteristics, they should not be both three and one; because of contradicting their own school, this constitutes one objection.
