The Commentary states: This uses solidity and the like as an analogy for earth and the like, as can be known from the text. The thesis and so forth follow in order. Here, the word 'heat' and so forth includes motility, touch, number, measure, separateness, and the rest, eleven dharmas. They say the bodily faculty apprehends eleven qualities: 1. touch; 2. number; 3. measure; 4. separateness; 5. conjunction; 6. disjunction; 7. posteriority; 8. priority; 9. fluidity; 10. viscidity; 11. velocity (saṃskāra), which is the cause of action. The four, earth and so forth, are all apprehended by the bodily faculty, because they all have touch. The quality of color exists only in the three: earth, water, and fire; in wind there is no color. Because they name both conventional and real earth and so forth as earth and so forth, they are seen by the eye.
