次長行中，明本論主造論之意。文勢有三：一、安惠等欲顯論主為令生解，斷障得果，所以造論；二、火辨等意明論主令達二空，悟唯識性，所以造論。三、護法等明造本論，破諸邪執，顯唯識理。然此三師並為人、法，雖三義別，二意造論。

Next, in the prose, the basic treatise master's intention in composing the treatise is clarified. The flow of the text has three aspects: first, Sthiramati and others intend to reveal that the treatise master composed the treatise in order to cause [sentient beings] to generate understanding, sever the obstacles, and attain the fruits; second, Citrabhāṇa and others intend to clarify that the treatise master composed the treatise to cause [sentient beings] to penetrate the two emptinesses and awaken to the nature of consciousness; third, Dharmapāla and others clarify that the basic treatise was composed to refute various false attachments and reveal the principle of vijñapti-mātra. However, all three masters [act] for the sake of persons and phenomena; although the three meanings differ, the treatise was composed with two intentions.
