自下第三，破事大自在天等執，即不平等因計也。若言「莫醯伊濕伐羅」，是大自在天；若長言「摩醯伊濕伐羅」，是事大自在天者。如言「佛陀」，是覺者；若言「抱徒憨」，是事佛者。今破事大自在天者執。彼計此天，法身遍常，身如空量，無別居處，其變化身別有住處。

From here begins the third [section], refuting the attachment of those who worship Maheśvara and the like, which is the doctrine of an inequivalent cause (viṣama-hetu). If one says *Maheśvara*, it refers to the Great Sovereign God; if pronounced long as *Māheśvara*, it refers to a worshipper of Maheśvara. Just as saying *Buddha* means an Awakened One, while saying *Bauddha* means a worshipper of the Buddha. Now it refutes the attachment of worshippers of Maheśvara. They hold that this deva's dharma-body is omnipresent and permanent, his body having the measure of space with no separate dwelling place, while his transformation body has a separate abode.
