述曰：自下第二，令達二空，證唯識性。此即先敘所為外執。「開」為初開，「示」為久示。諸內外道俱起邪智，不正知故，「謬執我、法」，於二空門，真、俗二法唯識真理不能了達，無明所盲，殊不正解，名「迷唯識」。為令達空，方乃造論。「者」即假者，迷謬人也。

The Commentary states: The second part below is on causing them to comprehend the two emptinesses and realize the nature of consciousness-only. Here the external clingings that are the objective are first recounted. 'Revealing' (kāi) means opening for the first time; 'indicating' (shì) means demonstrating persistently. When both internal and external heterodoxies give rise to wrong cognition and lack correct knowing, they 'erroneously cling to self and phenomena'; regarding the gates of the two emptinesses, they are unable to comprehend the true principle of consciousness-only in the two truths of ultimate and conventional. Blinded by ignorance, they utterly lack correct understanding, which is called 'being confused about consciousness-only'. It is in order to cause them to comprehend emptiness that the treatise is then composed. 'Those' refers to the nominal persons, the confused and erroneous people.
