The Commentary states: Fourth, the section on non-increase and non-decrease. First is the general explanation; explaining them in terms of the stages, severing obscurations, and realizing tathatā is easily understood. "Obscurations" refers to the ten obscurations such as the ten ignorances on the ten stages. The Abhidharma-samuccaya, fascicle 12, states: The cognitive obscuration and others are all what the perfections counteract, based respectively on the obscurations of stinginess, violating precepts, resentment, indolence, distraction, bad wisdom, and so forth. Within bad wisdom, it is further divided into the latter four, so they are collectively called obscurations. To divide bad wisdom into five and call them the ten obscurations is incorrect, because the text below separately brings forth the six obscurations on its own.
