述曰：七也。謂施等前三，《對法》第十一說：是諸菩薩增上生道，後三決定勝道。增上生道中，施能感大財；戒感大體；忍感眷屬，持戒生善趣中得尊貴身故，能行忍者，一切有情咸歸附故。決定勝道中，精進能伏煩惱、修善方便；靜慮能熟有情方便，依此發通熟有情故；惠是成熟佛法方便，由有惠故佛法成熟。諸菩薩道唯有此二，若闕一種道不成故。

The Commentary states: This is the seventh [reason]. Namely, the first three, beginning with giving, are stated in Fascicle 11 of the Abhidharma-samuccaya to be the path of higher rebirth (abhyudaya) for bodhisattvas, and the latter three are the path of definitive excellence (niḥśreyasa). In the path of higher rebirth: giving can induce great wealth; morality induces a great physical form; patience induces a retinue, because by upholding morality one is born in good destinies and obtains an exalted body, and because towards one who can practice patience, all sentient beings return and submit. In the path of definitive excellence: diligence can subdue afflictions and is the skillful means for cultivating the good; meditative stabilization is the skillful means for maturing sentient beings, because relying on this one manifests supernormal powers to mature sentient beings; wisdom is the skillful means for maturing the buddha-dharmas, because through wisdom the buddha-dharmas are brought to maturity. The bodhisattva path comprises only these two, for if either is lacking, the path cannot be completed.
