The Commentary states: The third major division is the section on cultivating the perfections in the ten grounds. The Daśabhūmika-sūtra, Mahāyānasaṃgraha, Prakaraṇāryavācā, Yogācārabhūmi, and so forth all state: on the first ground, giving is predominant, while the remaining perfections are not uncultivated, according to one's strength and portion; and so on up to the tenth ground, where wisdom is predominant, while the remaining perfections are not uncultivated, according to one's strength and portion; therefore, ten are cultivated on each ground. Question: If the fifth ground cultivates the perfection of concentration, why is the third ground called "Luminous"? The obstacles to concentration are eliminated on the third ground, and brought to maturation by the fifth ground.
