10.256

述曰：第七識俱身見等法，與無漏道性相違故，七地以前猶有有漏道故，未全伏滅，八地以去無漏相續方永不行。「七地以來得現起」者，與貪、嗔等餘煩惱等為依持故。若此是彼第七識俱，七地以前已許滅者，即貪、嗔等已前應滅，無依持故，如八、九、十地。

The Commentary states: The dharmas such as identity-view conjoined with the seventh consciousness are mutually opposed in nature to the taintless path; before the seventh ground, there is still the tainted path, so they are not yet completely subdued and eliminated. From the eighth ground onward, with the continuity of the taintless [path], they never operate again. 'Up through the seventh ground they can actively arise' means that they serve as the support for other afflictions such as greed and anger. If this were conjoined with that seventh consciousness and were admitted to be eliminated before the seventh ground, then greed, anger, and so forth should have been eliminated previously, because they would lack a support, as in the eighth, ninth, and tenth grounds.
