10.280

述曰：二、辨相也。前之五地觀心猶劣，無相觀少。第六地中，猶觀染淨平等如，故多住無相。第七地中斷微細生滅相故，無相恒續而有加行，與八地等別。

The Commentary states: Second, distinguishing the marks. In the previous five bhūmis, the contemplating citta is still inferior, and markless contemplation is minimal. In the sixth bhūmi, because one still contemplates the equal tathatā of defilement and purity, one mostly abides in the markless. In the seventh bhūmi, because one eradicates the subtle marks of arising and ceasing, the markless is constant and continuous, yet there is applied effort; this distinguishes it from the eighth bhūmi and above.
