述曰：此文有四：一、出體；二、所障；三、即愚；四、總結。即初二也。《十地》云「不能善利益眾生障」，世親云「於饒益有情不作行」，義意亦同。前八地中得無相樂，耽著寂滅不肯進修，諸佛七勸方能進趣，故唯自利。九地之障，四無礙解利他法故。

The Commentary states: In this text there are four parts: first, presenting the essence; second, what is obstructed; third, identifying the delusion; fourth, the general conclusion. These are the first two. The Daśabhūmika calls it the 'obstacle of being unable to skillfully benefit sentient beings'; Vasubandhu calls it 'not performing activity in benefiting sentient beings'; the conceptual intent is also identical. In the preceding eighth bhūmi, one attained the joy of the markless and indulged in quietude, unwilling to advance in cultivation; only when the Buddhas gave seven admonitions was one able to proceed, so it was solely for one's own benefit. The obstacle of the ninth bhūmi obstructs the four unhindered understandings, which are dharmas that benefit others.
