The Commentary states: Third, discrimination. The essence of the revolution of the basis taken in the verse is only the vast revolution, because it is realized and attained by abandoning the two heavinesses. That it does not speak of the consummate revolution is because the consummate revolution is spoken of in contrast to the bodhisattvas, whereas the vast revolution is spoken of in contrast to the two vehicles. Furthermore, the consummate revolution belongs only to the Tathāgata, whereas the vast revolution is in the bodhisattvas. Here, explaining that the ten grounds take the vast revolution, it is because on each and every ground one must abandon the two heavinesses before it is realized and attained. Another explanation is: since it speaks of taking the vast revolution, it is clear that the consummate revolution is also contained within it, [the treatise] having briefly raised one corner; that is, among the six revolutions of the basis it is the first, the conventionally designated revolution, because the true one has not yet been attained. The remaining five are truly called revolutions because they are genuinely realized and attained. The first section, explaining the revolution of the basis according to stages, is concluded. Below is the second section, directly explaining the revolution of the basis, within which there are three parts: first, a general explanation of the revolution of the basis; second, although the meanings of the revolution of the basis are summarized into four kinds, now only the two obtained through revolution are taken, and so forth, differentiating the term "revolution of the basis" spoken in the root verse; third, distinguishing that this stage of cultivation is capable of realizing it, not having already realized it.
