述曰：所知障者，顯唯菩薩得，非二乘，二乘不能出所知障故。「大悲般若常所輔翼」者，顯緣此涅槃生智、悲故，或由智、悲緣證如故，於生死、涅槃二俱不住。緣此雖起悲、智二用，體性恒寂，故名涅槃。此即第一，出涅槃體。

The Commentary states: "The obstruction to knowables" shows that only bodhisattvas attain it, not the two vehicles, because the two vehicles cannot emerge from the obstruction to knowables. "Constantly assisted by great compassion and prajñā" shows that it is due to taking this nirvāṇa as an object that wisdom and compassion arise; alternatively, it is because wisdom and compassion take suchness as object and realize it that one abides neither in birth and death nor in nirvāṇa. Although the two functions of compassion and wisdom arise with this as their condition, its essential nature is eternally quiescent; therefore it is called nirvāṇa. This is the first part, identifying the essence of nirvāṇa.
