The Commentary states: From here downward, the distinctions across various categories are seven. First is the gate of the distinctive marks of the three bodies. First, within the general presentation of the Dharma body, there is further an ultimate sense in which a body is distinctly established and named the essential body (svabhāvakāya). "Transcending marks" means lacking the ten marks; "quiescent" means that the paths of searching and thinking are cut off; "severing all proliferations" means transcending language. The intrinsic nature of all buddhas is named the essential body; that which serves as the basis for the conditioned and unconditioned meritorious dharmas is called the Dharma body.
