The Commentary states: Reconciling contradictions. That is, the ninety-eighth [fascicle of the Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra] states that there are four things that cannot be magically created: first, sense faculties; second, citta; third, caitasikas; fourth, karma and karmic retributions, and so forth. Furthermore, because the functions of 'faculties and so forth' are absent, they are not like visible forms, sounds, and so forth; hence it is said that they cannot be magically manifested. If it were not so, odors and so on would also be likewise, as in the fifty-fourth and the end of the fifty-third [fascicles], and the notes in the previous second fascicle, concerning what dharmas are created in magical transformation in hetuvidyā, and so on.
