The Commentary states: Third, the section distinguishing the meritorious qualities of the three bodies. The dharmakāya should be challenged with wood and stone, for they also cannot give rise to greed, anger, and so forth, and thus should be called endowed with meritorious qualities; but because this accords with generating wholesome dharmas, it cannot serve as a parallel. 'Permanent, blissful, self, and pure' and so forth should be distinguished: being free from defilement excludes the sāsrava. Being the 'support of all goodness' excludes the conditioned anāsrava. 'Unconditioned meritorious qualities' reveals freedom from arising and ceasing. The rest is as in the Cheng weishi lun shuyao, and all is taken from the seventh [fascicle] of the Buddhabhūmi[-vyākhyāna].
