The Commentary states: For the other meanings there is no dispute; only "vow" does not take wisdom as its self-nature, but rather takes desire (chanda), resolve (adhimokṣa), and faith (śraddhā), these three, as its nature, because a "vow" takes these three phenomena as its self-nature. Stating that it is subsequent-attainment wisdom is because it arises only within subsequent-attainment wisdom. The first five perfections, however, are not like this. The Mahāyānasaṃgraha and other texts state: either desire and resolve are the nature of the vow; or faith and resolve are the vow. Here they are combined, hence it says: it takes three phenomena as its nature.
