2.164

The Commentary states: Second, by analogy, it refutes that uninformative [karma] (avijñapti) exists either. In this there are two parts: first, refuting external attachments; next, stating the correct doctrine. This is the refutation of attachments. 'Your uninformative matter is also not really existent; because it is subsumed under matter; like obstructive matter'—what was refuted earlier can serve as an example. Furthermore: 'Your non-obstructive matter should not be real matter; because it is accepted to be non-obstructive; like the mind and mental factors.' If the Mahāsāṃghika and Dharmaguptaka schools separately establish uninformative matter, referring to bodily courage and bodily vigor—if [they are] mental courage and so forth, they are subsumed under mental factors; the physical entity in the chest of the Sthaviras is also subsumed under the sphere of dharmas (dharmāyatana)—we now refute them by analogy.
