述曰：自下第二、破不相應。於中有二：初總破諸部；後別破異計。初中復三：一、總非；二、却詰；三、量斥。此即初也。不相應者，簡非色、心及諸心所，不相似故，行簡無為。

The Commentary states: The second part below is the refutation of the viprayukta-saṃskāras. Within this there are two parts: first, a general refutation of the various schools; second, a specific refutation of distinct positions. In the first part, there are again three: 1. a general denial; 2. a counter-interrogation; 3. a refutation through formal inference (pramāṇa). This is the first. "Not associated" differentiates them from form, mind, and the various mental factors, because they do not resemble them; "conditionings" (saṃskāra) differentiates them from the unconditioned (asaṃskṛta).
