述曰：薩婆多師等引經為證，即諸論云壽、煖及與識，三法捨身時頌？應知命根說名為壽。命根解釋雖多，正義唯在於此，命謂色心不斷，是命之根。或命者第八識，以情為命也。

The Commentary states: The Sarvāstivādin masters and others cite the sūtra as proof, namely the verse in the treatises: 'When the three dharmas—life span, warmth, and consciousness—abandon the body...'. One should know that the life faculty is called 'life span'. Although explanations of the life faculty are many, the correct meaning lies only in this: life means the non-interruption of form and mind, which is the root (faculty) of life. Or, life is the eighth consciousness, taking sentient [life] as life.
