述曰：子段第二、例用相違難，即此古昔薩婆多救，用前後起。今論主牒用相違故，用不頓起。

The Commentary states: The second sub-clause is the objection by analogy with the mutual opposition of functions. This is the rescue by the ancient Sarvāstivādins, that functions arise sequentially. Now the author of the treatise cites: 'If, because their functions are mutually opposed, their functions do not arise all at once,'
