述曰：下第四段。子段有四：第一、隨他不詮難，牒彼救言：語聲上屈曲非能詮表；聲上屈曲故；如絃管聲。又此屈曲是聲體性故，如色上屈曲即色體性，此不能詮，由此故知別有名等。

The Commentary states: Below is the fourth section, which has four sub-sections. First, the objection based on the opponent's non-signification. Taking up their rescue argument, they say: 'The modulations upon the sound of speech are not signifiers; because they are modulations upon sound; like the sound of strings and pipes. Furthermore, since these modulations are of the intrinsic nature of sound, just as the modulations upon color-form are of the intrinsic nature of color-form, they cannot signify. Hence we know that there are distinct words and so forth.'
