The Commentary states: Other schools hold that "non-loss" (avipraṇāśa) and "increase" are unassociated [formations], which are alternate names for possession (prāpti); all should be refuted according to this. This refers to what the Saṃmatīya holds in the Karmasiddhiprakaraṇa, formerly called "the dharma of non-loss is like a promissory note". It also refutes the Nyāyānusāra masters' "inherence" (samavāya) and so forth, as well as the unmanifest morality of the Tattvasiddhi-śāstra. Next below, third, is the refutation of unconditioned dharmas (asaṃskṛta-dharma). Therein are three parts: first, refuting the external tenets; next, revealing the correct principle; third, concluding the error. Under refuting the external [tenets], there is first a general denial, and later specific refutations. Within the general denial, there are three parts: first, a general denial of their having real existence; next, demonstrating that such entities are definitively non-existent; finally, refuting them by means of syllogism.
