述曰：此顯非共。若猛、赤等體是一法，一頭在人，一頭在火，此猛、赤等可名共法，而是共有。既非共有，所依別故，依實不成。此猛、赤德在火，所依實火等異，在人所依實火等異，非是一德而在二邊，既無共法，故知假說亦不依實。

The Commentary states: This shows why they are not shared. If the substance of ferocity, redness, and the like were a single dharma, with one end in man and one end in fire, these [qualities of] ferocity, redness, and the like could be called a shared property and would be shared. But since they are not shared, because their substrates are distinct, [the designation] based on substance is unestablished. This quality of ferocity and redness residing in fire has a distinct substrate—namely the substance of fire—and that residing in man has a distinct substrate; it is not a single quality residing on both sides. Since there is no shared property, one knows that the conventional designation is also not based on substance.
