述曰：如香、味、觸、根合得自相，豈能以聲得彼自體？聲既不及自相之處，故定知此假智及詮。皆不及彼自相而轉，猶如於聲。

The Commentary states: Just as smell, taste, and touch are apprehended in their particular characteristics through contact with the sense organs, how could one attain their entities by means of sound? Since sound cannot reach the locus of their particular characteristics, it is known with certainty that this nominal intellect and expression likewise do not operate by reaching their particular characteristics, just like sound.
