述曰：謂前頌言「及了別境識」，解彼「及」字：「及」者，合集義，以了境識六種不同。今合為一名為了境，故言「及」也。「及」字雖通相違及等，今顯合集，故解「及」言。上來雖別解後三句，出能變體，然未解釋能變之義，故今應說，於中有三：初牒烈數；次依標解；後總料簡。

The Commentary states: The previous verse stated, "and the consciousnesses that discern objects"; this explains that word "and". "And" has the meaning of bringing together, because the consciousnesses that discern objects are of six different types. Now combining them under a single name as discerning objects, it therefore says "and". Although the word "and" can also apply to mutual contrast and so forth, here it shows bringing together; therefore it explains the word "and". Above, although the last three lines were explained individually and the substances of transformation were identified, the meaning of transformation was not yet explained; therefore it should be stated now. Herein there are three parts: first, stating the enumeration; next, explaining according to the headings; finally, general analysis.
