The Commentary states: This resolves the objection. Raising 'vipāka' among the three transforming consciousnesses has already been explained above; now ālaya is stated on account of two meanings. Although this self-characteristic possesses three stages, because that name 'store' is subsumed under the initial stage among the three stages, being the first to be abandoned from beginningless time up to the seventh stage and by the learners of the two vehicles. Furthermore, because this name is that which is grasped by self-grasping, its fault is grave. Although the name of the defiled part also extends to vipāka, the name vipāka is still lighter in comparison to this. Because this name 'store' includes both meanings, and because of the gravity of the fault, it is therefore specifically stated here.
