述曰：由無漏種微隱難知故，約彼障顯姓差別。若不爾者，因者所以，有何所以？彼障有可害、不可害別。
The Commentary states: Because anāsrava seeds are subtle, hidden, and hard to know, spiritual lineages are distinguished in terms of those obstructions. If it were not so, what reason—'cause' meaning reason—would there be for those obstructions to be distinguished as destructible and indestructible?
