述曰：十門分別，第八識中上已三門，第一出體，識自相門；第二真假異熟，五果果相分別；第三諸法因緣，四緣因相分別，自下第四、第五行相、所緣分別，於中有二，初問；次答，此問起也。然不可知麁細分別，但無別體，或約所緣，或約行相，明不可知，故於門中略而不舉，後別解中即自疎出，義有別故。

The Commentary states: Among the ten gates of distinction, concerning the eighth consciousness, three gates have already been discussed above: first, identifying its entity, the gate of the self-characteristic of consciousness; second, true and nominal maturation, the distinction of the characteristic of fruit among the five fruits; third, the causal condition of all phenomena, the distinction of the characteristic of cause among the four conditions. From here below are the fourth and fifth: the distinctions of the cognitive aspect and the cognitive object. In this there are two parts: first, the question; second, the answer. This is raising the question. However, distinguishing the coarse and subtle aspects of the unknowable lacks a separate entity; the unknowable is explained either in terms of the cognitive object or in terms of the cognitive aspect, and hence it is omitted and not raised among the gates; in the subsequent separate explanations it will naturally be drawn out, because their meanings are different.
