The Commentary states: That is, if it can be mutually enjoyed by all sentient beings of one's own realm, it is called 'shared,' which is the shared within the shared. If it is enjoyed distinctively, it is called 'shared' according to whether it is transformed in common with a greater or lesser number of sentient beings, which is the unshared within the shared, because the perceptions of humans, pretas, and so forth differ. Just like the transformation by Great Brahmā and the solitary hells, they are transformed according to whether there are many or few sentient beings, not meaning all beings without exception. Question: Why does the sūtra say that 'all together transform it'? Answer: The Abhidharma-samuccaya-vyākhyā, fascicle five, states: this demonstrates that when born in the formless realm, there are karmic seeds not yet detached from desire that accompany them, though there is no active manifestation; it likewise does not mean absolutely all of all beings. The explanation of the realm is concluded above. Next, what is appropriated is distinguished. There are two kinds of appropriation; first, seeds are explained.
