3.32

述曰：謂自種子要待眾緣和合，種子轉變起取現行等諸果作用。功能殊勝方成種子，故種自類非因緣合，不名種子。

The Commentary states: This means that its own seed must await the combination of multiple conditions, so that the transformation of the seed gives rise to the function of grasping actualized manifestations and other fruits. Only when its efficacy is distinctive does it constitute a seed; therefore, a seed's own homogeneous kind is not a conjunction of primary causes and conditions and is not called a seed.
