若解本識十門義中，上來合二段已解五門訖，自下第三辨第六義心所相應門。於中有五，一、問起論端；二、舉頌正答；三、釋常字顯五相應所在位次；四、別釋五所體性、作用；五、釋頌中相應之義，或分為二，一、問；二、答。答中有二，初舉頌；後廣釋。廣釋中有三，初釋常字、五相應位；二、別解五所；三、解相應義。

In explaining the ten gates of the root consciousness, the preceding text combined two sections and concluded the explanation of five gates. From here down is the third [section], which analyses the sixth topic: the gate of association with mental factors (caitasika). Within this there are five [parts]: first, raising the question to introduce the discussion; second, citing the verse as the direct answer; third, explaining the word 'always' (nityam) to reveal the stages and positions where the five [mental factors] are associated; fourth, explaining individually the intrinsic nature (svabhāva) and function (kāritra) of the five factors; fifth, explaining the meaning of 'association' (saṃprayoga) in the verse. Or [it may be] divided into two: first, the question; second, the answer. The answer has two parts: first, citing the verse; and second, the extensive explanation. Within the extensive explanation there are three parts: first, explaining the word 'always' and the stages of association with the five [factors]; second, explaining the five factors individually; third, explaining the meaning of association.
