述曰：此釋本頌相應位次，即解常字，第三段也。謂此本識三位名中，舉初狹名釋識寬體，故從無始來乃至未轉，即除成佛餘一切位。此說自體三位通二，恒與此五心所相應。

The Commentary states: This explains the stages of association in the root verse, which is the explanation of the word 'always', constituting the third section. That is to say, among the three designated stages of this root consciousness, the initial narrower name is cited to explain the broader essence of the consciousness; hence, from beginningless time until it has not yet been transformed—that is, all stages excluding buddhahood. This states that the essence covers two of the three stages, continuously associated with these five mental factors.
