述曰：即此觸數，既似三和有能順生心所作用，即能生起餘心所法，故以受等所依為業，受等心所皆依此生。若無生能，非所依故。何以知者？

The Commentary states: That is, this factor of contact, since it resembles the harmony of the three in possessing the function of conforming to generating mental factors, is able to give rise to the remaining mental factors; therefore it takes serving as the support of feeling and so forth as its activity, for feeling and the other mental factors all arise depending on this. If it lacked the capacity to generate them, it could not be their support. How is this known?
