述曰：簡上轉識等非名種義，此中別解上六義中，言唯內種具有六義。然世親《攝論》亦通外種，此中引之解外穀麥種既能生果，名種子不？

The Commentary states: This discriminates against the evolving consciousnesses and so forth above not having the meaning of seeds. Herein, among the six characteristics above, it specifically explains that only internal seeds possess the six characteristics. However, Vasubandhu's Mahāyānasaṃgraha also extends this to external seeds; this is cited here to explain whether external seeds of grain, barley, and so forth, being capable of producing fruit, are called seeds or not.
