述曰：上勿字流至此。勿觸等五與觸等相應，以說本識、觸等相應故。不爾，如何觸等相例。
The Commentary states: The word 'lest' above carries down to this: lest the five such as contact would be associated with contact and so forth, because it is said that the root consciousness is associated with contact and so forth. Otherwise, how could contact and so forth be analogised to it?
