3.628

述曰：前生後滅，相續如流，豈假去、來是有，方成因果不斷。不籍去、來因果，足不斷故，謂但一種在現在時流入過去，此之種子後念即起，剎那剎那恒時現在，而是無常，因果不斷。

The Commentary states: The preceding arises and the subsequent ceases, continuous like a stream; how would it rely on past and future being existent only then to accomplish the non-discontinuity of cause and effect? It does not rely upon past and future causes and effects, which suffices for non-discontinuity. That is to say, only a single seed, when in the present, flows into the past; this seed's subsequent moment immediately arises, constantly present moment by moment, yet impermanent, with cause and effect continuous.
